Parenting session in Barrington Monday

Michael Riera, author of "Staying Connected to Your Teenager: How to Keep Them Talking to You and How to Hear What They are Really Saying," will present a program for parents of children from elementary through high school ages at 9:30 a.m. and again at 7 p.m. in the Barrington High School Auditorium, 616 W. Main St.

Riera will speak on such topics as the "hidden logic" of teens, why teens do what they do and can't or won't explain their behavior to you, tying discipline to the development of integrity, how to hear what your teens are not saying, how to influence them, how adolescents develop and why it's more important to be their parent than their friend.
