Elburn man charged with sexually abusing woman passed out at party

An Elburn man has been charged with felony criminal sexual abuse, accused of putting his hand inside the undergarment of a female who was passed out at a party.

Christopher A. Runde, 24, of the 500 block of Maple Ave., was arrested Tuesday by Elburn police, after the Kane County State's Attorney's office authorized the charge, a Class 4 felony. He was being held at the Kane County jail on $25,000 bond.

Elburn police say they were called to a fight at a party in the 200 block of Conley Drive at 2:20 a.m. Oct. 30. Partygoers told officers that Runde had videotaped his actions, and that they fought with him to stop it. He dropped his camera, they confiscated it and turned the videotape over to the police.

The charge was authorized Tuesday, and police arrested Runde at his home Wednesday.

If convicted, he could be sentenced to one to three years in prison.

Police arrested several adults at the party on charges of unlawfully permitting a minor to become intoxicated, a misdemeanor. Those charged were Jeremy Borciaardt, 21, of the 400 block of Guy Lane, Cortland; James Kluck, 21, of the 300 block of West DeKalb Drive, Maple Park; Steven Ortiz, 21, of the 100 block of Cross Street, Sugar Grove; Jonathon Ramirez, 23, of 300 block of West DeKalb Drive, Maple Park; Andrew Serafin, 25, of the 400 block of Guy Lane, Cortland; Jeffrey Stralka, 19, of the 1900 block of Annette Circle, Sugar Grove; and Joshua Walsh, 21, of the 100 block of Arbor Avenue, Sugar Grove.

Police also charged eight juveniles at the party with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor, a misdemeanor.
