Coyotes beat Ducks in OT

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- James Vandermeer scored his second goal of the game at 1:18 of overtime, Matthew Lombardi also scored and Robert Lang had two assists, leading the Phoenix Coyotes to a 3-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday night.

Ilya Bryzgalov made 26 saves against his former team, helping end the Ducks' season-best three-game winning streak.

Ryan Getzlaf and Bobby Ryan scored for Anaheim, and Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 23 saves after getting his 32nd career shutout Friday night in a 3-0 win over Chicago.

Anaheim's Corey Perry extended his point-scoring streak to 18 games with an assist on Ryan's tying goal with 1:54 left in regulation, breaking the previous franchise record set in 1999 by Teemu Selanne.

The Ducks pulled even when former Phoenix defenseman Nick Boynton got the puck from Perry and took a wrist shot from the right point that deflected in off Ryan's stick while he was screening Bryzgalov in the low slot. But Vandermeer ended it with a 35-foot one-timer for his fourth goal of the season after Lang set him up in the slot.

Lombardi made a nifty more swerving across the front of the crease to put the Coyotes ahead 2-1 with 9:53 left in the third period. The goal came less than 5 minutes after Vandermeer scored into a wide-open net with Giguere out of position, following his save on Lang's wrist shot.

The Ducks, who did all of their scoring on power plays in Friday's win, connected at 5:12 of the second period while Phoenix defenseman Sami Lepisto was off for hooking Perry. Getzlaf beat Bryzgalov to the stick side with a 25-foot wrist shot from the slot for his fourth goal in eight games, after getting just one in his first 17 contests.

Phoenix defenseman Ed Jovanovski and right wing Peter Mueller were scratched after being forced out of Saturday's 5-2 win against Dallas because of undisclosed injuries. Jovanovski had played just two games after missing the previous eight due to a lower body injury. Last season, the 14-year veteran played in all 82 games for just the second time in his NHL career.

NOTES: The Ducks are 12 for 23 on the power play over their last eight games. Their opponents have come up empty during all 15 power plays over the last four games. The Coyotes were 0 for 4 with the man advantage. ... Ducks LW Kyle Calder didn't play because of bleeding in his left eye, caused by a deflected puck that struck him during Saturday's practice. LW Matt Beleskey was recalled from San Antonio of the AHL to replace him. ... Anaheim RW Joffrey Lupul missed his fifth straight game because of back spasms. ... The Ducks conclude their seven-game homestand Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Kings, the first meeting this season between the Southern California rivals. After that, 12 of Anaheim's next 16 games are on the road. ... Ducks enforcer George Parros played his 200th game with the club. ... Bryzgalov, Giguere's backup in 2006-07 when they won the Stanley Cup, had three consecutive shutouts for the Ducks during the 2006 playoffs.
