Rolling Meadows firefighter charged with abusing teenager
A Rolling Meadows firefighter has been arrested and charged with sexually abusing a 16-year-old girl who was visiting the fire station as a member of an Explorer program.
Firefighter Donald Naughton, 40, of Lake in the Hills, was charged with one count of official misconduct and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
Police say the abuse occurred June 13, 2006 at Rolling Meadows Fire Station 15, 3111 Meadow Drive, where Naughton was working. At the time, the victim was 16, authorities said.
The girl was part of the Explorer program that was at the fire station that day, according to the Cook County State's Attorney's office.
Court reports claim that Naughton reportedly was able to get the victim by herself, kissed her, fondled her and forced her to perform oral sex.
The victim told a friend but did not want to report the incident to the police at the time. When she turned 18, the crime was reported, according to the state's attorney's office.
The police conducted an investigation with the public integrity unit of the Cook County State's Attorney's office.
Naughton was in bond court in Rolling Meadows on Dec. 24 and given a $50,000 bond.
The fire department would not comment on the status of Naughton's employment and the village administration did not return phone calls.
