Two minor injuries in Addison fire

Two people were slightly injured Friday in an early morning fire in Addison.

Crews from the Addison Fire Protection District responded to a report of a house fire on the 1100 block of Fischer Drive at about 3:30 a.m., according to fire officials.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and fire in the basement that extended to the first floor bedroom.

The fire was put out in about 30 minutes.

Two people were taken to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital for smoke inhalation, but were treated and released.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation. Officials estimated the damage at about $85,000.

Firefighters from Lombard and Elmhurst assisted.
