McHenry County hosts seasonal flu clinics

The McHenry County Department of Health is accepting appointments for a seasonal flu vaccination clinic on Tuesday.

The clinic will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at 2200 N. Seminary Ave., Annex A, Woodstock. You can schedule your $25 flu shot by visiting mcdh.info or calling (815) 334-4510 after 8 a.m.

The department of health is recommending flu shots for people older than 50, pregnant women, children ages six months to 19 years, people with chronic health issues, health care workers and people who come into contact with high-risk individuals.

The department is advising people to get flu shots early because it takes two weeks to develop immunity after receiving the vaccination. The seasonal flu shot does not protect against the H1N1 virus, also known as the swine flu.
