Funeral arrangements set for Addison family

The funeral arrangements have been set for the four members of the Mangiantini family, all of whom died Wednesday inside their Addison home in a murder-suicide.

Visitation will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, at the Salerno Funeral Home Rosedale Chapels, 450 W. Lake St., Roselle. A funeral Mass has been set for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 1233 W. Holtz Ave., Addison.

Authorities say Thomas Mangiantini, 48, used two guns Wednesday to kill his wife, Elizabeth, 46, and two sons, Angelo, 12, and Thomas Jr., 8, before turning one of the guns on himself. The tragedy, which has been officially ruled a murder-suicide, shocked friends and neighbors in Addison, who described the Mangiantinis as a strong family active in local schools, youth sports and Boy Scouts.

A handwritten note was found in Thomas Mangiantini's pocket, but Addison police say the contents of the note won't be released until family members have had time to review it.
