No injuries in Monday evening Cary house fire
Fire officials reported no injuries in a Monday evening fire on Lloyd Street in Cary.
Cary Fire Protection District officials said they were dispatched to the 400 block of Lloyd at about 5:30 p.m. for a fire in the basement and first floor kitchen. The homeowner was the only person in the house when the fire began. He was able to escape without injury.
Firefighters had the blaze under control within 20 minutes, officials said.
The home sustained significant smoke and water damage, and was declared uninhabitable. No damage estimate was available.
The cause of the fire was not known and remains under investigation.
