Seniors to exhibit art at Campbell House
The Kane County Forest Preserve District presents "Timeless X," a senior citizen art exhibit, at the Campbell House in Geneva.
The art exhibit includes watercolors, oils, pastels, acrylics, ceramics, machine embroidery, wood carving and photographs, many of which will be available for purchase. It features 37 artists from Kane County and the surrounding area.
"Timeless X" runs through Nov. 1. This is the 10th year the forest preserve district and the Friends of the Campbell House have sponsored a senior exhibit.
"Each year, the response to the senior exhibit continues to grow, reaffirming the dedication and talent of seniors in our area," said Sherrie McLaughlin, community affairs assistant. "Many of these seniors have been active artists for years; while others are new to the arts, finding they now have more time to discover and develop their talents."
McLaughlin said the opening reception is a great opportunity to spend a warm and lovely fall evening at the Campbell House gallery, meet the artists, and perhaps purchase a piece of artwork for your home or as a gift.
Invitations to this year's exhibit featured an oil painting by Wes Watanabe of West Chicago. Other artists exhibiting in the show include: Cliff Kasik and Barbara Brown, both of Elgin; and Don Patterson, Don Hinds, Diane Gabriel, Jerry Lake and Nancy McGuire, all of Geneva. St. Charles is represented by Liz Fowler, Judith Bugh and Delbert Webb. Batavia participants are Alan Drover, John Davison, Pat Regenfuss, Ray Pittman and Herb Siebert. Participating from Woodridge are Dave Ducommun, and Joe and Judy Falout.
The western suburbs are represented by Louis Mustari, Richard Born, and Judith Fuhrmann of DeKalb. The Aurora artist is Martha Griffith and Marianne King is from West Chicago. Additional artists from Naperville are Doris Bettin, Emile Lattyak and Russell Vass.
Rounding out the list of artists are Ron Girard of Romeoville, Sandra Romashko and Loretta Christensen of Wheaton, Bruce Kullen of Sandwich and Robert Krajecki of Elburn. Exhibiting for the first time are Marilyn Paretti of Glen Ellyn, Vivian Wright of Malta, Judi Pines of Winfield, Mary-Glynn Boies and William Mitchell of Sycamore.
The Campbell House is part of the Kane County Events Center, along with Elfstrom Stadium, and is located in Geneva at Kirk Road and Cherry Lane, midway between Route 38 and Fabyan Parkway. The show hours are 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday.
