Beware of scary tax-raising tricks
DuPage County residents will pay more for Halloween candy this year thanks to some tax "goblin" politicians. State Senators Dan Cronin and Carole Pankau both voted for a scary increase in the tax rate we pay on candy and other items - from 1 percent to 8.25 percent in my community (House Bill 255).
Fiscal conservatism is just a costume for Cronin, who also voted for the Blagojevich RTA plan that tripled the county level sales tax last year (House Bill 656). The Daily Herald reported Oct. 7 that none of the county money is actually going to transportation projects. Will Cronin or Pankau get my vote for DuPage County Board Chairman? Not a ghost of a chance. Don't treat them after their history of tax-raising tricks.
