Web site offers to match painters and businesses
To help painters connect with homeowners and businesses, a Glendale Heights painter has launched PainterStaffing.com.
The Web site offers about 1,500 listings of painters as well as businesses and contractors seeking to make a match. About half the listings so far have listings for those in the Chicago suburbs, while the rest reach out to New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Miami, said founder Dave Rosedale.
"In this economy, it's good to put people back to work," he said.
Rosedale, who has his own painting firm, employs a small team to promote the site to contractors. The idea for the site came after years of running his own painting company and having some trouble finding enough talented workers, he said. So the idea of creating a resource that offers a pool of talent seemed helpful to everyone.
The site gives painters who are out of work or are looking to switch jobs a chance to access employers seeking to hire. Painters pay an annual $12.95 fee to be listed on a basic job profile. Employers could get the first year free, and then pay $199 annually after that.
The site, which launched in August, uses the latest database technology. It provides categories for temporary, part-time, full-time, flextime, per-project, seasonal and other positions. Different jobs often need different types of painters, which could be found here, he said.
"This helps put painters back to work and gives them some exposure," Rosedale said.
