River Road still closed

Naperville's River Road between Jefferson and Ogden avenues will remain closed today as repairs continue on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway crossing. The project has been slowed by bad weather. Detour signs remain in place and motorists are advised to seek alternate routes. For details, visit www.naperville.il.us.

Ogden Avenue plans on tap

Naperville residents can get a look at proposed streetscape alternatives for Ogden Avenue during an open house from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Nov. 9 at city hall, 400 S. Eagle St. A brief presentation is scheduled for 7 p.m. and city officials will be available to accept comments and answer questions. The streetscape improvements are part of a plan adopted in 2008 to serve as a guide for redevelopment along Ogden Avenue from Washington Street to Naper Boulevard. Kiwanis installs officers

The Warrenville Kiwanis Club recently installed Ruth Barackman as president and Emily Larson as vice president. The club also is selling tickets for its annual pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Nov. 7 at the Warrenville Fire Station on Batavia Road.

Library welcomes author

Author Wendy Mass, who has written eight novels for young people - including "A Mango Shaped Space," "Heaven Looks a Lot Like a Mall" and "Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life," will discuss her work and sign copies of her books during an appearance at 7 p.m. Nov. 3 at Bensenville Public Library, 200 S.
