Health professionals wanted:

Residential Home Health plans to hire 200 health professionals in the Naperville area. The home health provider has acquired Edward Home Care from Edward Hospital and is seeking experienced nurses, therapists and other health professionals as the company expands. Aurora alcohol sting:

Fourteen of 15 Aurora businesses that sell package liquor asked for identification from customers who appeared younger than 21 during a recent sting. The investigation was conducted last week by the Aurora Police Department's Special Operations Group with assistance from several of the department's underage cadets who attempted to buy liquor at businesses across the city. An employee at End Zone Bar and Grill in the 1600 block of North Farnsworth Avenue was cited for unlawful sale of alcohol to a minor and was served with a notice to appear in court.

H1Ni virus information:

Lombard's recent public information meeting on the H1N1 virus, presented by Maureen McHugh, executive director of the DuPage County Health Department, is being replayed on Comcast local access channel 6 or AT&T U-verse channel 99, select Lombard TV. Viewing times on the Lombard Channel are 11:30 a.m. Sunday; 10:30 p.m. Monday and Thursday; 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Tuesday; 7:30 p.m. Wednesday; 3 p.m. Friday and 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Children's nominations:

Aurora is seeking nominations of children ages 4 to 7 for the annual "Miss Merry Christmas and Jack Frost" contest. The Naperville Junior Women's Club is conducting a food drive during October to support Loaves and Fishes Community Pantry. Marching band showcase:

West Chicago Community High School District 94 presents the final performance of the 2009 Wildcat Marching Band at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, in the Bishop Gym on the west side of the school, 326 Joliet St. The band will perform all the music from this season's four different half-time performances, as well as original arrangements written by high school band students. Admission is free. To get to the gym, use entrance B or C off Wood Street.

Life saving effort in Aurora

Melissa Johnson, a 22-year veteran emergency telecommunications operator has garnered August "Employee of the Month" honors at the Aurora Police Department for her lifesaving actions in July. Johnson was honored for her work during a 911 call from a female who found her boyfriend unconscious due to a drug overdose. Johnson led her through the resuscitation process. Once paramedics arrived, they administered further treatment to the man, who survived.
