School bus involved in McHenry crash

The intersection of Route 120 and Green Street in McHenry was shut down for about 20 minutes after a minor bus crash Friday moring.

Deputy Chief John Jones of the McHenry Police Department said the driver of the District 15 school bus was transported to Centegra Hospital-McHenry with minor neck and back injuries. He added two students on the bus were not injured in the accident and were taken to school by another bus.

Jones said the bus was heading southbound on Green Street and heading through the intersection when a 1999 Gold Mercury four-door vehicle heading westbound on Route 120 ran the red light and hit the bus.

Jonathan Jacobs, 31, of McHenry was cited for disobeying a traffic control device because of the accident. He was treated and released at the scene, officials said.

The intersection was shut down for about 20 minutes while the crash was tended to. It was reopened at about 9 a.m., Jones said.
