St. Charles teen faces prison
A St. Charles woman charged in connection with an Elburn teen's drug-related death is facing a potential prison sentence in another county.
Lindsey N. Parker, 23, could be sentenced to three to seven years in prison Nov. 24 for violating her probation in a 2006 heroin case in downstate McLean County.
Assistant State's Attorney Adam Ghrist said Parker has pleaded guilty to violating terms of her probation by failing to verify she completed "aftercare" substance abuse treatment and failing to provide a urine sample for a drug screen in January.
Parker's probation stemmed from an Aug. 30, 2006, traffic stop in which she was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. She pleaded guilty Dec. 21, 2007 - just five days after Kane County authorities say she and two friends abandoned 17-year-old Michael York of Elburn on a Chicago street after his suspected heroin overdose.
Ghrist said that because Parker did not complete probation she faces the full sentencing range of the original charge, a Class 2 felony, which is also punishable by probation. Ghrist would not say whether he plans to seek a prison term.
In Kane County, Parker has pleaded not guilty to obstructing justice in York's death. Last week, Assistant State's Attorney Kelly Orland asked a judge for a continuance until after Parker could be sentenced in McLean County.
Parker returns to court Dec. 3. Her co-defendants, Jordan D. Billek, 19, and Nathan L. Green, 22, both of Maple Park, have pleaded not guilty to obstructing justice and are due back Oct. 22 and 23, respectively.
