Rush to open '08 season March 3

The Chicago Rush will open its 2008 season at home on Monday, March 3, squaring off against one of its biggest rivals -- the defending ArenaBowl champion San Jose SaberCats.

The SaberCats were Chicago's final opponent during the 2007 season, defeating the Rush in the American Conference final before going on to win their third ArenaBowl title. It was the third time in the past four seasons the two teams met in the AFL semifinals.

The Rush schedule might be the team's toughest in its eight years, featuring 12 games against 2007 playoff teams -- teams which posted a combined 102-58 record in 2007, including Dallas (15-1), Georgia (14-2) and San Jose (13-3).

"Seeing how challenging the schedule is, I certainly am glad that we have a large group of home games early in the season," coach Mike Hohensee said. "I think the atmosphere at Allstate Arena could help us get off to a fast start as we work to gel as a team."
