AAUW sponsors walk
The Wheaton/Glen Ellyn Branch of the American Association of University Women will sponsor a walk at 9 a.m. Oct. 10 to raise money to support continuing education scholarships for educators. Registration begins at 8:45 a.m. at the Glen Ellyn Public Library parking lot by the Prairie Path; the walk ends 2.9 miles later near the Wheaton train station. Free brake pads for food
To help the Northern Illinois Food Bank collect food for the needy, owners of Auto Plus in Addison and CK Auto Repair in Lombard will install free brake pads or shoes for customers who bring in five nonperishable food times in October. Auto Plus is at 515 S. Grace St., Addison, and CK Auto Repair is at 21W070 Roosevelt Road, Lombard. Labor is not included in the offer. The most needed items are canned meals and proteins and canned fruits and vegetables. Other desired donations are canned or bagged beans, cereals, peanut butter, applesauce, rice, pancake mix, bread mix, mixed meals such as macaroni & cheese, juices, powdered milk and pasta. Seeking input
Lombard residents who are interested in learning more about local government are invited to participate in the village's biannual community forum from 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 3. Residents should contact Carol Bauer in the village manager's office at (630) 620-5712.
Quilt group plans show

Addison to honor police, fire
