Scouting Lake Park @ Bartlett
Lake Park (6-2, 5-1) at Bartlett (3-5, 1-4)
When: Today at 7:30 p.m. at Millennium Field
Last year: Bartlett 30, Lake Park 7
Last week: Waubonsie Valley 36, Lake Park 14; Bartlett 27, Thornwood 0
Outlook: Lake Park fell out of first place last week but still has a chance to split the Upstate Eight Conference title with a victory over Bartlett coupled with a loss by league-leading St. Charles East, which will face rival St. Charles North on Saturday at 1 p.m. But Bartlett has foiled the Lancers' plans in the past. The Hawks have beaten Lake Park four years in a row. In three of those seasons, the Lancers finished 4-5 and missed the playoffs. "There were a few years where we kept them out of the playoffs, so I'm sure they'd like to get back at us," Bartlett coach Tom Meaney said. "We have a lot of film on them we've been studying. The kids have been coming in extra to look at it so, hopefully, that will make a difference. The offense is coming together." Senior wide receiver Zach Konstanzer returned last week for the first time since breaking his clavicle on the opening kickoff in Week 2. He caught 8 passes for 83 yards from improving sophomore quarterback A.J. Bilyeu, who completed 19-of-26 passes for 151 yards. Lake Park attacks with strong-armed quarterback Larry Nawrot, elusive speed back Artie Monaco and third-year middle linebacker Ryan Gerts. "They have some good weapons, no doubt about it," Meaney said. "They're awfully big. They're like St. Charles East up front with some big linemen and they have a lot of speed." Five Bartlett starters missed practice time this week with flu-like symptoms.
