Mount Prospect to celebrate Arbor Day Friday

The Mount Prospect Public Works Department will host an Arbor Day tree planting ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Friday, at Indian Grove Elementary School, 1340 N Burning Bush Lane.

At the ceremony, the village will commemorate its recent receipt of the Tree City USA Award from the Arbor Day foundation in Nebraska. It's the 33rd consecutive year Mount Prospect has received the award for its urban forestry program.

"Planting a tree is a great way to celebrate Arbor Day," Dave Hull, the village's forestry and grounds superintendent, said in an announcement of Friday's events. "I hope our citizens will join us this year in planting trees throughout the community, to help perpetuate Mount Prospect's urban forest."
