Ex-Packer Goodman charged in assault
OSHKOSH, Wis. -- A former Green Bay Packers running back faces charges including strangulation and false imprisonment stemming from a domestic dispute in July.
Herbert Whisper Goodman, who played a dozen games for the Packer in 2000-2001, turned himself in to authorities in Appleton on Monday.
According to court documents, a woman told police she confronted Goodman and asked him to leave the home in Menasha. The woman told police that Goodman then locked her in a room, blocked her exit and at one point pinned her to the floor. He's accused of choking her and smashing her forehead into a closet door.
Goodman told police he blocked a doorway but said the incident only involved "minor pushing or shoving."
An attorney for Goodman did not immediately return a message left by The Associated Press on Thursday.
