Marklund dedicates wing

A grand opening ceremony for the new east wing of the Marklund Philip Center for Children is slated for noon Sept. 27 at 164 S. Prairie Ave., Bloomingdale. The ceremony, which is open to the public, will include a flag dedication, tours from 12:30 to 2:45 p.m. and music. The addition includes a new activity room/dining room, an additional therapy classroom, more functional storage and administrative offices. The center includes a children's home; pediatric nursing facility for infants, children and medically fragile adults; a day school; and a respite program. For details, visit www.marklund,org.

Railroad crossing closed

The railroad crossing at Hafenrichter Road in Wheatland Township near Naperville will be closed to all traffic from today through Sept. 25. The closure is required for Canadian National Railway to perform repairs to the crossing. Detour routes will be posted with traffic using South Eola Road, Wolf's Crossing Road and 95th Street.

NCC hosts concert

Four local bands will perform at 7 p.m. Friday when Naperville's North Central College plays host to an all-ages rock concert called "Iron Madden" in the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville. The bands Billions, Wolfgang Jay, Crayolala and The Hyrax will perform. Tickets are $10. For details, call (630) 637-SHOW.
