Barrington Area CROP Walk steps off to help stop hunger

Representatives of area churches, schools, businesses and civic organizations are preparing for the 27th annual Barrington Area CROP Hunger Walk, determined to improve upon last year's performance of 442 walkers and more than $65,000 in receipts.

Twenty-five percent of all funds raised in Barrington is kept in the area for the Barrington Giving Day, Barrington Meals With Wheels, Wauconda-Island Lake Food Pantry, Northern Illinois Food Bank, People in Need program of the Barrington Area Ministerial Association, Project HOPE and the FISH Food Pantry in Carpentersville.

The Barrington Area CROP Walk is an annual community hunger education and fundraising event sponsored by Church World Service, an international ecumenical relief, development and refugee resettlement agency providing assistance in the United States and around the world.

The walk takes place Sunday, Oct. 18 throughout the village of Barrington, beginning at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 401 E. Main St. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m.
