Weather brings out families to Fall Family Fest
Fall Family Fest organizer Erika Hedlund was counting herself pretty lucky Saturday.
A year after heavy downpours forced officials to cancel the event, hundreds of families were out enjoying the Cary Park District festival, and the weather couldn't have been better.
In all, about 700 attendees were expected to take part in the fun at Lion's Park, Hedlund said.
Aimed at children 2 to 8 years old, activities included pony rides, crafts, a petting zoo, pumpkin picking, a balloon artist and craft stations.
Adult admission was free, and after paying a flat fee, children could take in as many activities as they wished.
Katie Babiarz, of Cary, waited in a long line for the ballon artists as her husband and 2-year old daughter, Katelyn, were at the pony carousel.
"She loves animals. She loves being out here. I hoping after all this she'll nap better today," Babiarz laughed.
