Virginia Road in Crystal Lake closed for improvements

Virginia Road, between Route 31 and Rakow Road in Crystal Lake, will be closed to traffic beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8, to allow Waste Management Inc. to make required improvements to Virginia Road in front of its waste transfer facility, which will be on Virginia Road, just north of Pingree Road.

Motorists will need to follow the posted detour route using Route 31 and Rakow Road. The project involves total reconstruction of Virginia Road in front of the new waste transfer facility, partial reconstruction at the intersection of Virginia Road and Route 31 and installation of new water main from north of Rakow Road and along the west side of Virginia Road down to the waste transfer facility site.

Access to local businesses on Virginia Road will be maintained. Virginia Road is anticipated to be closed to traffic for approximately two months, weather permitting.
