Cary residents robbed at gunpoint; police asking for help
Three men armed with a gun broke into a Cary apartment late Tuesday and robbed its occupants of cash and a cell phone, police said.
The men entered the apartment on the 200 block of North Second Street about 11:20 p.m. through an unlocked patio door, robbed three women and two men inside and fled before police arrived, the victims told police. No one was hurt.
Police were not able to find the suspects in the area and had no one in custody late Wednesday.
"We believe this is an isolated event specifically targeted at people in that apartment," Deputy Police Chief Ed Synek said. He declined to comment on the relationship between the suspects and the victims or how much money was taken.
The victims described the suspects as two black men and one man who may be Hispanic, all about 19 or 20 years old, thin and of average height. Two of the men were wearing red hooded sweatshirts, while a third, the man who pointed the gun, was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
