Focus on women's health

The American Cancer Society, area hospitals and two state representatives have teamed to sponsor the DuPage Women's Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Yorktown Center at Butterfield Road and Highland Avenue in Lombard. More than 100 vendors will be on hand to provide free health screenings, lifestyle information for women, medical experts discussing health-related topics and opportunities to win gift cards from participating merchants. This is the third year the groups have worked with state Reps. Sandy Pihos and Patti Bellock to hold the event. For details, call (630) 779-6438.

Group seeks electronics

Kidz Kabaret, a nonprofit children's theater group based in Naperville, is accepting donations of personal electronic devices or gaming systems to sell on eBay. All proceeds will go to the Build-a-Theatre fund, which is helping the group establish a new theater facility in Naperville. From now through September 27, Kidz Kabaret will accept donations at its main office, 1665 Quincy Ave., Suite 143, Naperville. For a list of acceptable items, call Franca Amaro at (630) 355-9212.

Flu shots in West Chicago

Walgreens of West Chicago will offer seasonal flu shots from 5 to 9 p.m. Sept. 24 at West Chicago Community High School, 326 Joliet St. The shot is free for those with Medicare Part B; $3 for anyone on Medicaid and older than 19; and $24.99 for those without insurance. Peanut Days approach

Kiwanis Peanut Days will run from Sept. 19-26 and members of the Naperville Evening Kiwanis will be selling goobers Sept. 19-20 at the Riverwalk Art Fair; Sept. 23-24 at the 5th Avenue and Route 59 train stations; and Sept. 25-26 at area grocery stores. Proceeds go directly to charitable organizations.
