Kane sheriff's department Citizens Academy to begin

The Kane County sheriff's department is taking applications for the fall session of its Citizens Police Academy.

The academy starts Wednesday Sept. 2, and meets from 6 to 9 p.m. every Wednesday for 10 weeks at the sheriff's department, 37W755 Route 38, Suite A in St. Charles.

At the academy, participants will have the opportunity to get a perspective of the operations of the Kane County sheriff's department through presentations, a ride-along with a patrol deputy, tours of the jail and some hands-on experiences.

Class size is limited to 20 people. There is no cost associated with this experience.
