Events that raise money for some type of charity, including galas, golf outings, rummage sales, shopping events, fashion shows, picnics and sport nights. Deadline is two weeks before event date.

Aug. 7

VHHS Poms Garage Sale: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 7 and 8, 313 Sutcliffe Drive, in the Hawthorn Club subdivision, Vernon Hills. The Vernon Hills High School Varsity Poms squad will host its annual garage sale. For information, call (847) 331-5921.

Corey Diamond Memorial Fundraiser: 7-11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, Arlington Lanes, 3425 N. Kennicott, Arlington Heights. The $35 registration fee per person includes dinner, dessert, soda, open bowling all night and DJ services. There will also be a ventriloquist entertaining and raffle tickets available for purchase. LHS Poms Squad Car Wash: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, Ace Hardware, 155 Peterson Road, Libertyville. The Libertyville High School Varsity and Junior Varsity Pom Pon Squads will hold a car wash. All proceeds will benefit the poms squads. Suggested donation is $5.

FOCUS Student Car Wash: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, Great Lakes Credit Union, 2525 Green Bay Road, North Chicago. Animal Rescue Fundraiser: Noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, 2192 Cary Road, Algonquin. Fur Keeps Animal Rescue and No Splitting Hares Rabbit Rescue will host food and drink vendors, a 50/50 Raffle, a D.J., a silent auction, face-painting, and an adoption event. It Can Be Done: Mondays and Tuesdays, Francesca's Intimo, 293 E Illinois Road, Lake Forest. Francesca's Intimo has agreed to donate 15 percent of patrons' bills to the nonprofit organization It Can Be Done! on Mondays and Tuesdays if the customer mentions the organization to a restaurant employee. The proceeds will benefit the purchasing of a drill to construct wells throughout the 12 villages of Uru on Mount Kilimanjaro, providing the 30,000 people living there with freshwater.
