Lake in the Hills man arrested for allegedly robbing South Elgin bank

A Lake in the Hills man has been charged with robbing a bank in South Elgin, police officials said.

South Elgin police officials said in a press release that Joseph G. Dolgach of the 0 - 100 block of Westminter Drive was arrested after fleeing the bank following the robbery at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said he entered the bank at 536 Randall Road and stole an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing on foot.

After leaving the bank, Dolgach tried to take possession of a vehicle from a passing motorist, but the motorist fought off the attack, the release states.

Dolgach fled northbound along Randall on foot again, the press release states, but was apprehended by a South Elgin Police Sergeant who was in the area at the time of the robbery on an unrelated case.

Dolgach was turned over to the FBI Lisle office and is expected to appear in U.S. Federal Court at 11 a.m. today.

Police officials were not available Thursday morning to discuss individual charges against Dolgach or available to release the man's age. But, those specific charges are expected to be released in court today.

Dolgach is also a suspect in two other bank robberies that have taken place in the area, the release states.
