Woman charged after hitting two Mount Prospect residents

Police have charged the driver who hit two pedestrians in Mount Prospect last week with three misdemeanors, Officer Greg Sill of the Mount Prospect Police Department said Tuesday.

According to Sill, Michelle Hrycko, 23, was charged with two counts of failure to exercise due care to avoid a pedestrian and one count of improper lane usage. Hrycko, of Chicago, has a Sept. 28 court date in Rolling Meadows.

One of the men Hrycko hit, Saul Vidal-Maximiliano, 25, is still in critical condition at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, according to hospital officials. The other pedestrian, Oscar Martinez, 23, was treated at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village for minor injuries.

Hrycko was driving west on Algonquin Road as Vidal-Maximiliano and Martinez stood on a median west of Briarwood Drive at 7:42 a.m. on Aug. 4. Police said the men apparently were walking to a bus stop on Algonquin Road.
