Wise to sign autographs; his famous catch brings him to Cubs territory

The White Sox's Dewayne Wise, who made the dramatic ninth-inning catch to save Mark Buehrle's perfect game last month, will appear in Schaumburg Thursday for an autograph signing.

Wise will be at Field of Dreams at Woodfield Shopping Center from 6 to 7:30 p.m. - or as soon as he can make it there following the Sox's 1:05 p.m. game against the Los Angeles Angels.

Store manager Matt Hanlon said this is the first White Sox appearance at Field of Dreams "in a long time because, as you can imagine, the Cubs are an easier sell."

Case in point: Cubs' legend Ron Santo will be on hand for his own signing from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and is already outpacing Wise in ticket sales - even though Santo commands higher fees. But if South Side fans turn out for Wise, that will "grease the wheels" for more Sox appearances.

Tickets for Wise's signing are $24.99 to have one item autographed, and there will be plenty of photos of Wise's historic catch for him to sign. For the Santo appearance, tickets are $39.99 to have a photo or ball autographed and $49.99 for a jersey, bat or other equipment.

For tickets, call (847) 995-9095.
