Alcohol may have played role in 2-boat crash on Nippersink Lake
Alcohol may have been a factor in a two-boat collision that occurred on Nippersink Lake on Saturday night, authorities said.
Two people were hurt in the crash near the village of Fox Lake, authorities said. Both of the injured were taken to were taken to Centegra Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry.
Lake County sheriff's office Sgt. Ed Harris said Sunday that a preliminary investigation shows alcohol use by the drivers of both boats appears to have been a factor in the collision. Additional details were not immediately available.
Harris said three boaters wound up in the water. One of them, a woman, was rescued from the lake, placed on a sheriff's marine unit boat and taken to the hospital with spinal and facial injuries, Harris said.
