No more loose leaves allowed in Mount Prospect

If you're putting your loose leaves out by the curbside in Mount Prospect, you might get a ticket. That's because the village's curbside loose-leaf collection program is over.

But don't despair, free bagged leaf collection begins this week and continues through Friday, Dec. 12, on your garbage pick up days. The free pick up is for leaves only, placed in biodegradable yard waste bags. Other yard waste like grass clippings should be put in a yard waste bag or rigid container showing a yard waste decal, and requires a village-imprinted yard waste payment sticker for collection. Bags can't be more than 50 pounds.

Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, garbage collection will be delayed by one day in the Thursday and Friday service areas.
