Prison for bank robber from Cary who left behind name and address
A 41-year-old Cary man was sentenced this week to 46 months in a federal prison for a 2008 bank holdup in which he was nabbed after leaving a pay stub listing his name and address at the crime scene.
Thomas Infante, of the 0-100 block of Willow Circle, also must repay the $397 he stole from the Fifth Third Bank, at 4071 W. Lawrence Ave., in Chicago, under the sentence handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Robert M. Dow Jr.
Infante pleaded guilty in April to a felony bank robbery charge alleging he walked into the bank Dec. 26 and handed a teller a note implying he had a weapon and threatening harm if his demands were not met.
"Be Quick Be Quit (sic) Give your cash fast or I'll shoot," the note read.
After receiving $397 cash, Infante ran from the bank, leaving behind the note that had been written on the back of a pay stub that had been torn in half.
Infante's attorney had asked for a two-year sentence, saying in court documents that Infante was acting out of desperation after having not had enough money to buy Christmas gifts for his longtime girlfriend and her three children.
