Arlington Heights
• Thieves stole a pink and gray girls' mountain bike valued at $70 and a green and blue boys' mountain bike valued at $40 parked unlocked outside a store at 122 N. Vail Ave. around 7 p.m. Aug. 12.
• Vandals smashed the front driver's-side window on a 2003 Acura sedan at a home on the 2500 block of North Chestnut Avenue between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Aug. 12 and smashed the front driver's-side window on a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder on the 2400 block of North Chestnut between 5:30 and 8 p.m. Aug. 12. Vandals also smashed he front driver's-side window on a 2005 Toyota Camry on the 1500 block of North Best Drive between 4:15 and 5:45 p.m. Aug. 12.
Buffalo Grove
• Vandals punctured the tires and scratched the paint on a man and his girlfriend's vehicle in the 1000 block of Miller Lake in the early morning of Aug. 13 after the man had an argument with earlier in the evening.
• Three youths riding bicycles were reported striking mailboxes with a baseball bat around noon Aug. 13 at Thompson Boulevard and Green Knolls Drive. No damage was observed and the youths were released to a parent.
• Someone drover a golf cart into the pond at the 8th hole at Arboretum Golf Club, 401 Half Day Road, about 10 p.m. Aug. 13.
• Residents reported two dogs running loose in the 200 Block of Navajo Trail. Officer located the dogs, took them to a residence in the 100 Block of Glendale Road, placed them in the yard, fixed the fence and left several citations in the mailbox.
Des Plaines
• Thieves stole 10 copper downspouts from an office building at 3150 S. River Road and additional downspouts from a building at 3158 S. River Road between Aug. 7 and 10. Value was more than $250.
• Thieves stole two large kitchen cabinets, stove top and oven out of the backyard at a home on the 300 block of North Fifth Avenue between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Aug. 11. The homeowner was remodeling his kitchen and had left the items in the yard. Value was estimated at $800.
Elk Grove Village
• Thieves entered an unlocked 2008 Honda Pilot in the 1800 Block of Maryland Aug. 1 and took numerous items, including a GPS unit, cell phone and MP player for a loss of $710.
• Vandals slashed all four tires on a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe parked in a lot in the 1900 block of East Higgins Road about midnight Aug. 12, doing $400 damage.
• Vandals broke out the glass on the side panel of the door to the front entrance of a business in the 600 block of South Lively Boulevard about 5:30 a.m. Aug. 13, doing $1,500 in damage, and shot a BB gun through the front window of a business in the 300 block of South Lively sometime during the same night, causing $500 damage.
Mount Prospect
• Vandals walked on the newly applied polyurethane floor finish in the south gym at Lincoln Junior High School, 700 W. Lincoln St., between 5 p.m. Aug. 10 and 7 a.m. Aug. 11. The offenders entered through an unlocked gym door. Damage was estimated at $500.
• A man attempted to steal 12 window shades valued at $506 around 5:30 p.m. Aug. 11 from Home Depot, 350 E. Kensington Road, but left the items and the shopping cart in the parking lot when a security agent ordered him to stop; he fled in a Chevrolet Equinox driven by an accomplice.
Rolling Meadows
• Burglars smashed the passenger side window to a 2004 silver GMC Envoy overnight Aug. 12 in the 5400 block of Astor Lane and removed a silver metal folding case that contained the complainant's identification, credit cards and $100.
• Burglars broke into a 1996 silver Dodge Intrepid overnight at Calvert and Northhampon drives and removed an alternator worth $110 that was on the floor of the vehicle.
Wheeling
• Burglars entered an apartment on the 0-100 block of West Strong Avenue between Aug. 2 and 7 and stole two bottles of prescription medications.
• Thieves cut a cable lock and stole two toolboxes with hand tools, value estimated at $2,000, from an apartment building on the 300 block of Oak Creek Drive between Aug. 3 and 7.
• Burglars broke into a 2000 Ford Mustang on the 500 block of South Milwaukee Avenue between 11 p.m. Aug. 5 and 5:30 p.m. Aug. 6 and stole $12 and a computer key for the vehicle.
