Barrington
• Thieves stole four hub caps from a 2007 Ford van in a business parking lot at 317 W. Northwest Hwy. overnight Aug. 20-21.
• Burglars broke into a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero at Makray Memorial Golf Club, 1010 S. Northwest Hwy., Aug. 22 and stole a brown leather purse.
• Vandals damaged a headlight and bumper on a car at 1301 Barrington Road around 7 p.m. Aug. 25.
Bartlett
• Vandals wrote graffiti on playground equipment at Trails End Park Aug. 21.
• Jamie Cooper, 18, of the 400 block of Rose Lane, Bartlett, was arrested around 2:50 a.m. Aug. 22 at West Bartlett Road and Devon Avenue and charged with local ordinance consumption of alcohol by a minor. His court date is Sept. 10.
• Thieves stole a mailbox on Norwich Drive, a mailbox and post on Providence Drive, and blew up a mailbox on Balsam Lane overnight Aug. 22-23. Loss was estimated at $125.
Hanover Park
• Daniel Bainer, 17, of the 5500 block of Court H, Hanover Park, was arrested around 5:45 p.m. Aug. 27 near his home and charged with unlawful contact with a gang member.
• Thomas K. Tate, 17, of the 1300 block of Kingsbury, Hanover Park, was arrested around 5 p.m. Aug. 26 at Spring and Valley View and charged with possession of marijuana.
• Thomas K. Tate, 17, of the 1300 block of Kingsbury, Hanover Park, and Brandon L. Burris, 19, and Derrick M. Barnes, 18, both of the 1400 block of Cypress, Hanover Park, were arrested around 6 p.m. Aug. 26 on the 1500 block of Birch and charged with criminal damage to property.
•Vandals wrote graffiti on fences, a building, a car, and homes overnight Aug. 24-25 at 12 locations on the 5500 block of Montibello, 1100 block of San Simeon, 1100 block of Court G, 5500 block of Catalina, 5700 block of Tiburon, 5600 block of Santa Cruz, at Catalina and Carmel, and at Catalina and Santa Cruz.
Hoffman Estates
• Vandals smashed the rear window on a 2004 Ford Taurus in a parking lot on the 2200 block of West Golf Road between 1 p.m. Aug. 24 and 5:30 a.m. Aug. 25. Damage was estimated at $150.
• Vandals slashed three tires on a 2003 Chevrolet Astro van on the 700 block of Salem Drive between 10 p.m. Aug. 24 and 8 a.m. Aug. 25. Damage was estimated at $450.
• Burglars broke into a 2005 Jeep Liberty on the 0-100 block of East Berkley between 8:30 p.m. Aug. 24 and 7:15 a.m. Aug. 25 and stole a GPS unit. Total loss was estimated at $700.
Palatine
• Roy A. Mertel, 48, of the 500 block of East Northwest Highway, Palatine, was arrested around noon Aug. 24 at Target, 679 E. Dundee Road, and charged with retail theft after he took a 32-inch LCD TV valued at $438 and tried to flee in his car, reports said. Officers quickly stopped him.
• Burglars stole a GPS valued at $550 out of a 2004 Honda CR-V on the 1100 block of East Chesapeake Court between Aug. 21 and 24.
• Burglars broke into a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer on the 700 block of East Independence Drive between 9 p.m. Aug. 24 and 7 a.m. Aug. 25 and stole a GPS unit. Loss was estimated at $561. Schaumburg
• Nabaa K. Shami, 31, of the 3000 block of West Ainslie, Chicago, was arrested around 3:30 p.m. Aug. 22 in Woodfield Mall and charged with endangering the life of a child after she left her 6-year-old son alone in a play area for 1-1/4 hours while she shopped. Her court date is Sept. 10.
• Burglars stole an iPod and two white gold and diamond wedding bands out of a 2004 Honda Civic at Woodfield Mall between 2 and 6 p.m. Aug. 24. Total value was estimated at $4,750.
• A home invader kicked in the front door at a home on the 200 block of Wyoma Lane around 10:10 p.m. Aug. 24, startling the husband and wife in their upstairs bedroom. The husband shouted and ran downstairs and found the front door wide open. Officers cleared the home, set up a perimeter and brought in a police dog, but the offender was not found. Damage was estimated at $300.
• A man in a silver Range Rover exposed himself to a woman getting out of her car on the 1200 block of Valley Lake Drive around 10:10 a.m. Aug. 25. He said her license plate was loose and that he fixed cars. He tried to hand her a business card and she noticed that his pants were open. He then drove away.
• Burglars stole a laptop computer and GPS unit out of a 1999 Chevrolet Camaro in a fitness center lot at 1020 N. Meacham Road between 2 and 3:15 p.m. Aug. 26. Value was estimated at $1,115.
• Thieves stole two wallets, valued at $190, out of a customer's purse at Fuddrucker's, 436 E. Golf Road, between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Aug. 27, while the purse was hanging on the back of the woman's chair.
• Burglars stole a subwoofer and in-dash stereo out of an unlocked 1993 Jeep Cherokee in a lot at Woodfield Mall between 5 and 9:30 p.m. Aug. 27. Value was estimated at $1,100.
