Free events for families at Lake in the Hills parks
The Lake in the Hills Parks and Recreation Department has planned plenty of free activities this summer.
For music lovers, there are lawn concerts featuring ScribbleMonster Friday, July 17; Tin Horse Sunday, July 19; The Flying Fool Friday, Aug. 7; and Members Only Sunday, Aug. 9.
Beach goers can enjoy a Barefoot Hawaiian Polynesian-style performance Thursday, July 30, or a game of Beach Blanket Bingo Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Indian Trail Beach.
Nature enthusiasts can explore the grounds of The Fen, a 260-acre nature preserve covered with more than 400 species of native plants and wildflowers, as well as more than 60 species of birds.
Fitness-focused individuals will appreciate the scenic views on the five miles of bike paths available for use. And with 33 parks, two skate parks, and a new Splash Pad opening soon at Sunset Park, kids won't have time to be bored.
