State police nab offenders on tollways

Illinois State Police District 15 officials announced the results of five June enforcement campaigns that resulted in nearly 260 citations for a variety of violations. District 15 is the law enforcement arm of the Illinois Tollway Authority. Three of the campaigns targeted speeders and the other two were alcohol-related. The three speeding campaigns took place June 18, 24 and 29 along I-355, I-294 and I-88 in five counties. Troopers ticketed 162 motorists and issued 66 written warnings, with 113 of the citations being written for speeding. The two "Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement" patrols conducted last month took place on toll roads in Cook, DuPage and Kane counties, state police officials said. Those campaigns resulted in four arrests for drunken driving, 44 tickets for speeding, eight tickets for underage consumption and a bevy of other violations.
