Lake in the Hills teen charged with sexual abuse
A 14-year-old Lake in the Hills boy has been charged with criminal sexual abuse after separate incidents this month involving three 14-year-old girls, police said.
The incidents, police said, occurred June 5 at a public location in the village. Police did not disclose further details because the girls, also Lake in the Hills residents, are minors.
"It was really a situation that got out of hand," Lake in the Hills Deputy Police Chief Mary Frake said.
Police learned of the incidents when contacted by a parent of one of the girls. After an investigation, the boy was charged in juvenile court with two counts of sexual abuse and one count of battery. All three charges are misdemeanors.
Sexual abuse charges are filed when someone touches another person inappropriately, Frake said.
The boy was released to his parents pending resolution of his case.
