Get help with phone bills:
State Rep. Linda Chapa LaVia and the Citizens Utility Board will host a free Phone Bill Clinic at noon today during a regular meeting of the Prisco Community Center's "Friendly Center Club" in Aurora. CUB representatives will offer local residents an analysis of their phone bill, advise them how to reduce their telephone expenses and alert them to common phone scams. Free health screenings:
Free screening for blood pressure, weight and body mass index is available from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursdays and Fridays at the Salvation Army, 1710 S. Seventh St., St. Charles. Bible school for kids:
Batavia United Methodist Church invites children age 4 through entering sixth grade to a vacation Bible school, "Camp EDGE: Experience + Discover God Everywhere" from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through July 31 at the church, 8 N. Pro golfer offers junior clinic:
PGA Tour golfer Kevin Streelman will return to his native Wheaton to offer a free program for junior golfers at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 7 at Cantigny Park, 1S151 Winfield Road. Streelman, a former Cantigny golf employee and second-year Tour member, will speak about his journey from Illinois junior golf to the professional circuit and answer questions from kids. A raffle benefiting the Illinois Junior Golf Association will give registered junior golfers the chance to play with Streelman or caddie for him on the day of the event. Six essay contest winners also will have lunch with Streelman and his wife, Courtney. Details on the raffle and essay contest are posted at IJGA.org. Those registered by July 31 will be automatically entered to win a foursome at Cantigny Golf and other prizes.
Batavia blood drive:
The City of Batavia will have a blood drive from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 12 in the council chambers at the Batavia Government Center, 100 N. Island Ave. Call Stacy Schilling at (630) 454-2070 if you wish to make an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome.
