Learn how you can volunteer with Kane forest preserve district

Learn about the volunteer opportunities with the Forest Preserve District of Kane County. The forest preserve district will host an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, for anyone interested in volunteering. There are volunteer positions in nature education, special events, natural areas management, cultural preservation and public safety.

During the following week, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, there will be a volunteer orientation for all new, registered volunteers. The orientation will give an overview of the forest preserve district, the volunteer positions and provide training.

Both the open house and the volunteer orientation will be held at the forest preserve district's headquarters, 1996 S. Kirk Road, Geneva. The offices are on the third floor of the Fox Valley Ice Arena.

For information on the open house or the volunteer orientation, call Julia Bourque, volunteer coordinator, at (630) 762-2741.
