Cutler watch: Ugly day in 11-on-11s
After a decent 9-for-11 effort in seven-on-seven, most of which were short passes, it got ugly for Jay Cutler. He had his worst day as a Bear in 11-on-11, hitting just 2 of 5 in the first session, with both completions to Earl Bennett for short gains. Nate Vasher, Trumaine McBride and Lance Briggs each provided tight coverage on 3 straight incomplete passes.
In the second 11-on-11, Cutler completed just 1 of 5, a short slant to Bennett. He was picked off by Briggs on a pass that was thrown way late and bounced off tight end Desmond Clark's hands. Cutler also threw low to tight end Greg Olsen, threw another pass away intentionally and had another incompletion after holding the ball way too long.
After connecting with Clark on short dump-off and then on a TD from the red zone, Cutler threw 3 straight incompletions. Finally in the hurry-up offense, Cutler found Rashied Davis on a crossing route but then threw 3 more incompletions in a row, including a near interception by Brigs. But short passes to Davis and Clark set up a 39-yard field goal by Robbie Gould.
Cutler's final numbers in 11-on-11 were 8-for-23, including 2 spikes to stop the clock.
