Health care bill a big ego trip

It is with deep regret that despite the majority of Americans being against the health reform bill. Yes, we need health care reform, but that monstrous, costly, cumbersome bill that was passed is the epitome of the House snubbing their noses at the American taxpayer. We, our children and our children's children will be forced to pay for this monstrosity. There was no reason to ram this bill through. A logical well thought out, bipartisan bill could have been drawn up, but the Democrats were more concerned with power than with doing what was best for the American people.

I will fight this to the end and I hope that all conservatives continue the fight against this Democratic "badge of egoism and power." Congress does not make any money, they only spend what they collect from the American taxpayer. And yet, we are treated worse than the terrorists. What is this administration coming to when they consider Americans a bigger threat than radical Islamic terrorists?

Hopefully, the midterm elections of 2010 and 2012 will restore the system of checks and balances that our forefathers incorporated into the Constitution to prohibit the misuse of power that is currently being wielded in Congress. This was a very dark day indeed for the American people. The promise of posting a bill for 72 hours before voting, the promise of eliminating pork and lobbyists, the promise of transparency, the promise of governing from the middle, the promise of being bipartisan are all broken promises. It is just business as usual in Washington.

Obama warned Republicans during his first month in office that the Democrats won and he certainly has not deviated from that rhetoric. His administration is going to do whatever they want for as long as they can get away with it. Of course, they want the final vote on this health care fiasco as soon as possible because they know the longer a dead fish lies around, the more it stinks.
