Bonfire embers set Crystal Lake house ablaze
Three people and two dogs escaped injuries after a fire started in their Crystal Lake home Thursday morning, officials said.
Fire officials said the blaze started at about 10 a.m. in a home on the 1000 block of Candlewood Drive.
Firefighters saw smoke and fire showing near the garage when arriving on the scene. The fire was under control and put out within 10 minutes.
Officials said the blaze ignited due to not properly disposing of hot embers from a bonfire.
The blaze and water caused about $150,000 in damages, officials said. The house was declared uninhabitable.
