Former MLB player Huff joins Sox Academy in Lisle

Former White Sox player Michael Huff has joined The Chicago Bulls/Chicago White Sox Training Academy's staff in Lisle.

Huff, 46, will serve as vice president of sports at the youth training facility, which is owned and operated by the Bulls and White Sox.

Huff was a member of the 1993 White Sox, winners of the American League West division title, during his three years with the Sox. Huff also played for the Dodgers, Indians and Blue Jays during his eight years in the Major Leagues.

"Mike will add leadership to an already strong instructional staff and we are always pleased to bring former players, and Chicago natives, back into our Bulls/Sox family," Jerry Reinsdorf, chairman of the Chicago Bulls and Chicago White Sox, said in a statement released Thursday.

"Chicago is my home and my time with the Sox created the fondest memories of my Major League career," added Huff. "I am blessed and excited to join the extraordinary youth training initiative of my two favorite teams."

Huff attended New Trier High School in Winnetka and was a two-time All Big Ten selection while playing at Northwestern University. He was drafted in the 16th round by the Los Angeles Dodgers and was a two-time Roberto Clemente nominee, given by baseball to honor players committed to their communities.
