Boys stir up trouble at girls camp in Steel Beam's 'Krazy Kamp'
Steel Beam Children's Theatre presents "Krazy Kamp," a hilarious musical about trouble at a boys camp that forces them to spend the week at the girls Camp Pocohontas, where gangsters and pranksters run rampant.
Performances are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, July 10-18, and 3 p.m. Sundays, July 12 and 19. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for kids under 16 and may be purchased online at www.SteelBeamTheatre.com or call (630) 587-8521.
Donna Steele directs with Amy Steele musical directing an auditioned cast of young actors including Claire Cerny of Geneva as the girls camp counselor and Dan Velisek and Tommy Hintz of Geneva as the boys camp counselors. Emily Whaley of Schaumburg plays a Broadway-bound actress runaway who is finally caught by her older sister Gloria portrayed by Kristin Tucholski of Geneva.
Campers include Kayla Vine, Niki Long and Lindsey Gallaher of South Elgin; Hannah Stern, Morgan Snook, Mara Handler, Lucy Tykal, Hannah Michaelis, Marissa LaGioia and Mikey Taylor of St. Charles; Jack Albregts, Jayne King, Grace Cerny and Mary Kate Stanfa of Geneva; Anna Nolazco and Jerry Monteleone of West Chicago. Victoria Michaelis of St. Charles plays the German jogging instructor; Marissa Clifford of Geneva plays the counselor's assistant; and Kate Vargulich of St. Charles plays the camp's owner, Mrs. Thistlemist.
Rounding out the colorful cast of characters are Sara Monteleone of West Chicago; Jimmy Farace of Bloomingdale; Morgan Fanning, Rebecca Drennan, Allison Griffiths, Nadia Handler and Keaton Stewart of St. Charles; Lauren Smith of Batavia; and Jacob Gallaher and Megan Long of South Elgin.
The show includes fun musical numbers ranging from "Junk Food Junkie" rap song to "Calypso Gentleman of John Smith." Peter Daley and Pete Steele of St. Charles will be accompanying on piano and drums. Morgan Fanning will be featured on fiddle.
