Deficit math that just doesn't add up
In the Oct. 2 Fence Post, Elizabeth Pearson wrote of Dick Cheney maintaining that President Bush's 2007 projected budget deficit is well below the average reached over the last four decades. Now please explain to me what kind of math was used for this projection? Reaganomics? Since when does borrowing money at an unprecedented clip merit credit?
Now we can get to whom we owe this debt of gratitude: "The Senate voted to give final congressional approval to raise the debt limit ceiling to $9.815 trillion from $8.965 trillion allowing the government to keep issuing debt."
Ms. Pearson, let me type that again -- $9.815 trillion we owe! I find it hard to find any positives in our country owing so much to those around the globe that do not have our best interests at heart. Please study this issue a little further, for I find little solace in Dick Cheney's words.
