$500,000 bond set for man charged with attempted murder
Bond was set at $500,000 Thursday for a Roselle man charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery in an alleged attack on his girlfriend.
The charges stem from an attack that authorities say 24-year-old Jaimie Vazquez made on his girlfriend late Tuesday at their home in the 500 block of North Plum Grove Road in Roselle.
Assistant State's Attorney Adam Klugman said that Vazquez stabbed his girlfriend multiple times around midnight July 7. Vazquez told police he became angry after he found a note to his girlfriend from her ex-boyfriend, Klugman said.
The court granted Klugman's request for an interim order of protection on behalf of the 33-year-old victim, who is expected to be released from the hospital early next week, Klugman said.
If convicted of the class X felony, Vazquez faces six to 30 years in prison. He next appears in court July 30.
