Mt. Prospect library sprouts whimsical mural

Artist Greg Gove's work is done, but the enjoyment is just beginning. His mural in the Mount Prospect Library's youth department is complete, after several days of work last week, and it is unique to Mount Prospect.

The walls are covered with images of children, books and animals. One of the bits, added at the library's request, is a little red wagon.

It's a shout out to the earliest days of the library, the 1930s, when Stella Jones and the Women's Club of Mount Prospect collected books by going door to door, pulling the wagon and asking for donated materials.

The mural will be officially dedicated Sept. 13.
