Country Car Show returns to Elburn
A car show in Elburn this month will raise money for the Northern Illinois Food Bank.
The 4th Annual Country Car Show is planned for Saturday, July 18, on a seven-acre spread on the 2S100 block of Green Road. The event is sponsored by the Fox Valley Corvette Club and Eagle Concrete, a Batavia company providing use of the land for staging.
Carolyn Higgins, a club member, said the annual show typically draws hundreds of vehicles, from classic models to contemporary styles. Last year's event raised about $9,000 - even after rain postponed the show.
"Hopefully, we can pass $10,000 this year," Higgins said. "That's my goal, but I hope we could get to $12,000 or $13,000, which would be a great contribution."
Registration is $15 and open to any style of car or truck. Awards are given in 30 categories based on the year and make of the vehicle. There also will be local food vendors and DJ music.
"It's probably one of the broadest venues as far as makes, models, years and everything," Higgins said. "We have everything from old trucks, sports vehicles and family vehicles to ambulances and a police cars. If it's a car worth seeing, it could be there in whatever state it's in."
Show registration is from 9 to 11 a.m., with voting until 1 p.m. and an awards ceremony at 3 p.m. The rain date is Sunday, July 19.
